Have you ever wondered what Bloggers actually do? Some might associate Bloggers with gossip and celebrity watch sites. There is more to blogging than most people know. Blogging can be a gateway to funneling a business.
Take a look at this Periscope Broadcast as I explain what Bloggers do. Follow me on Periscope @deskkdavenport, then read the list for more tasks that Bloggers actually do.
Blogging is simply writing about a subject that is familiar to you.
Social Media Managers
Bloggers must actively participate in the online, social community in order to build relationships with those that might be interested in their blog, products, or services. Bloggers with communities that are always engaging with questions, answers, likes, comments, and shares will have a greater success in getting traffic. So it is important for a Blogger to have a good following.
Sell Products and Services through Affiliate Marketing
In order to make money on a blog you have to sell something. Anyone can start with selling affiliate products or services (sometimes) when they do not have a product to sell of their own.
I have a specific affiliate marketing course (affiliate link) that will show you how to be successful with this type of business.
Create Products and Services
At some point a Blogger will create their own product whether physical or digital.
Examples of some physical products Bloggers have created:
- Physical Books
- Training DVD’s
Examples of digital products are:
- Online courses
- Online Workshops
- Membership sites
Examples of Services
- Coaching services
- Ghostwriting services
- Social media management
Email marketers are people who generate leads for their business by offering something of value in exchange for an email. This system allows Bloggers to invite their subscribers to events, classes, and to purchase products from them.
There are times in a Blogger’s career where they will have to take their own photos. Many do invest in an iPhone or camera to take their own photos.
Canva and Picmonkey is probably one the greatest inventions for graphic designs for people like me. Visual marketing is really being pushed as a way to attract your ideal audience so having the right photos with the right text is important for traffic. Why? One reason is Pinterest. Since Pinterest is a visually driven site you have to be able to convey the topic of your blog post in a picture and with a text overlay.
If you haven’t gotten into video as a Blogger then you should probably start doing videos. Livestreaming such as Periscope and Blab will increase the awareness of your blog immediately. Why not participate in the livestreaming community. Also, YouTube, Vimeo, and Dailymotion can also increase your visibility online. It’s time to start teaching little nuggets of wisdom and redirecting viewers back to your blog for more information.
Bloggers can turn into online instructors when they create a course or when they invite their readers to learn from their skills on a free webinar.
Online Experts and Coaches
Bloggers do not have to sit behind a laptop all day typing. They can be seen in their community as a resource of information when conducting live seminars. Becoming a coach and intensively teaching someone on a one-on-one level how to do what your doing is more valuable than having just a course. At least they will have their questions answered immediately.
These are some of the things that Bloggers do. Do you have any to add to the list? Please do so in the comments. I would love to hear what’s on your mind about this subject.
