How one Mom is Helping Other Moms in their Daily Life and Build Successful Blogs - Desk of Katina Davenport

Since this is the first blogger story in a 5 week series I thought I would explain the concept of these posts.

I felt it was necessary to help other bloggers share their stories to inspire new bloggers. I also wanted to give a voice to their stories since they might not share such details in their posts. I wanted to help promote their work in a meaningful way

Let’s get started with the first blogger for this week.

Blogger interview

Meet Darci Lopez. She is the woman behind the Life Unplanned Blog. In this first edition of a blogger’s story she discusses an interesting reason why she started blog and how it is helping the lives of moms in her group.

Here is her blogger story in her own words.

How did you hear about blogging? What did you hear about blogging?

I’d been reading a lot of blogs and came across a top blogger’s How to Start a Blog section. Then I was intrigued! Intrigued enough to start my blog on a whim without doing any proper research first.

When did you start your blog?

I started my blog in December of 2015 after my husband flippantly said to me, “Instead of reading other people’s blogs, you should write your own.” Three days later I had my site up and running… but I didn’t have a clue what I was doing!

Why did you start your blog?

I started my blog as an outlet for my personal expression, but soon changed direction and now focus mostly on helping others with their daily struggles and blog questions.

What is the purpose or theme of your blog?

I give mom bloggers simple solutions to their everyday struggles and straight-forward tips to boost their blogs. My main goal is to provide inspiration!

How many blogs do you own?

I only have one blog, as that’s all I can handle at the moment.

What has been your biggest frustration with blogging?

My biggest frustration with blogging has been getting consistent traffic. If you get all your traffic from social media, they can change the algorithm and then you’re toast. So, I’m currently focusing on my SEO, and that seems to be helping

What has been your greatest blogging success?

My greatest blogging success has got to be my Facebook group, the Life Unplanned Community. It is filled with my people, my tribe, my audience. I’m able to engage with them more closely there than on the blog and have some great conversations and gain some valuable insight into how I can best help them.

What is the most crucial step for you in growing your blog?

This is a loaded question, as there are so many important parts of growing a successful blog. I’m currently working on ramping up my SEO, but ultimately, I think the most crucial step for me has been getting to know my readers and building relationships with them.
Do you see yourself continuing with blogging in the future?

I absolutely see myself continuing with blogging indefinitely. I love it! Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s hard and not for everyone. You have to be self-motivated and be able to work long and hard to see results, but once you get your first email subscriber or make your first $1.00, it’s addictive and you will just want to keep going.

Darci has been a great part of my blogging life. It was a pleasure to have her a part of this special project. Make sure you take a look at her blog and follow her work.

I really enjoy the set up of an interview like this! Sometimes it is hard to know the actual people behind the blog but this allows you an insight into their “why”! Thanks for sharing and I am looking forward to more!

I agree with Darci, blogging is so addictive. For me, it’s the creative energy that I am able to release that makes it’s so fun and energizing for me!

I agree with the social media algorithm. It is always changing and can make a huge difference in views. So I have been trying to build my SEO and Mail List. Lots of work and I am still trying to figure it out.

Jenn, you are so right on with focusing on SEO and mailing list. THAT is where it’s at! And you’re right, too, about it being a lot of work. It’s overwhelming. I’m currently working on a post that simplifies SEO for beginners.
