Is affiliate marketing right for you?
Did you start blogging because you heard about all of the money many bloggers are making? I did, in 2012.
I started researching ways to make money at home after I lost my job in 2011. I looked into getting a job from one of those sites that will allow you to apply for jobs after you pay a fee. I obsessed over this site for months. I remember dreaming of the day when I would pay my $50 fee to apply for the work at home jobs listed. However, I felt uncomfortable paying a site to allow me to apply for jobs therefore I never went through it.
As I continued to research how other stay at home moms are making money online I came across blogging. My initial start began with Hubpages. I was introduced to affiliate marketing through this site. If you don’t know, Hubpages is a place where people can create articles, sign-up with to make money with Adsense, Amazon, and eBay as affiliates. It was the best decision I made at that time. There, I learned the basics of blogging. I learned about commenting on other posts. I also learned about monetizing.
I eventually ventured off to create my own dance blog. Today, I am working to help busy stay at home moms create a second income they are so desperately wanting through monetizing their blogs. One of the ways I am able to do this is to recommend monetization strategies that are passive and don’t require a lot of effort. This is really important as a busy mom. Therefore, I always begin by recommending affiliate marketing.
What is affiliate marketing?
Many people think affiliate marketing is a scam and that you will never make more than a few dollars per month. That’s not true. It is a legitimate way for you to monetize your blog and build a business around selling other people’s products.
Affiliate marketing is more than just linking to products. You essentially become a salesperson for someone else and receive a percentage. Many affiliate marketers can receive up to 60% percent in commission depending on what type of program or products they are selling. This is a great exchange for you helping someone else sell their product. In addition, you wouldn’t have to spend time and money on trying to create a product.
What’s great about affiliate marketing?
One of the advantages of being an affiliate marketer and blogger is you have the potential to put an affiliate product in front of hundreds of people every week. This will work if you are publishing informative blog posts weekly and promoting consistently to your email list, on social media, or in forums for example. It sounds simple right? It will become simple once you have the right formula of writing great content, getting subscribers, and converting those subscribers into customers. Yes, it could take a little time. It all depends on your own effort. However, when you know what your audience wants to learn you could start creating content to help them. You can also take it further and offer them a free product to get them on your email list, and then offer a paid product—your valuable affiliate product.
Another advantage of selling other people’s product is you have the opportunity to pick a product or program to sell that has already had proven success. There are plenty of products and programs within the Clickbank and JVzoo sites that you can promote. These product creators have already tested their landing page, language, and content. They have testimonials all you have to do is come up with the right strategy to help you drive traffic to the pages that has your affiliate links.
Why you should give affiliate marketing a try as a busy stay at home mom and blogger?
Once you decide on a product or a program it might take you a couple of days to set up and automate your sales funnel for easy automation. That means you can promote your landing pages so people can opt-in to receive a free offer in exchange for their email address. Then you can begin the process of providing value through your emails and you can start converting your subscribers into customers.
I love affiliate marketing because….
- It is an efficient way to monetize your blog. You can earn money even while you sleep. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to email messages that says someone has bought from your affiliate link.
- I can work a few hours every day creating content to help drive traffic to my blog posts that will help sell affiliate products.
- You can start for free. Many people use MLM health products like an affiliate and sell it through their blogs. You don’t have to pay for autoshipment every month. Just try the product to see if you like it and if you would actually recommend the product. There is only a one time investment.
- You can start your own business online selling other people’s products quickly.
